We understand that Israel is disappointed by Indonesia's rejection of its national football team in the 2023 U-20 World Cup and the consequences of revoking Indonesia's status as host for the 2023 U-20 World Cup by FIFA. However, We have no political views or feelings on this issue. Instead, I can provide information that Indonesia rejects the presence of the Israeli national team based on Indonesia's foreign policy that supports Palestine. As a sovereign country, Indonesia has the right to determine its own foreign policy. However, of course this decision can have significant consequences as happened in this case. I hope that countries around the world can find ways to respect each other's differences and resolve conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy. Israel's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lior Haiat, stated that his party would not provide further comment on FIFA's decision. However, Haiat emphasized that sports should not be interfered with by political issues. This statement indicates that the Israeli government supports the principles of upholding the principle of sport free from political interference.

Israel Rejects INDONESIAN's U-20 National Team Question: Politics Can't Interfere with Sports

FIFA's decision to cancel Indonesia from hosting the U-20 World Cup due to the emergence of a wave of rejection of the Israeli national team's participation in the event, has attracted the attention of foreign media including Israeli and Palestinian media. The conflict between Israel and Palestine has become a sensitive issue that has sparked tensions around the world, including in the field of sports.

However, FIFA's decision demonstrates their commitment to maintaining the principles of sport free from political interference and promoting unity and peace among all FIFA member countries. The rejection of the participation of the Israeli national team in the U-20 World Cup by several parties, including the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster, a number of parties such as PDIP, PAN, PPP, PKS, and other community organizations, was motivated by various reasons.

Some of them cited Israel's attitude towards Palestine as the reason for the rejection, while others referred to the constitutional argument as the reason for their reluctance to accept the Israeli national team playing in Indonesia. However, the final decision was taken by FIFA, which canceled Indonesia as the host for the U-20 World Cup due to security reasons and the convenience of all the participating teams.

Some parties who reject the participation of the Israeli National Team in the U-20 World Cup may view that Indonesia will not support Palestine if it allows Israel to participate. However, it is important to remember that sport should not be meddled with politics and should not become a vehicle for prolonging political conflict. Even though the Israel U-20 National Team has qualified and has the right to compete in the country hosting this prestigious sporting event, the final decision was taken by FIFA to cancel Indonesia from hosting the U-20 World Cup. In this context, the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Zuhair Al Shun, stressed that sports issues should not be mixed up with politics, and it needs to be understood that sport can be a tool to promote unity and peace among all countries and peoples.

The statement by the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Zuhair Al Shun, stating that the participation of a participating country in a sporting event should not be influenced by the likes or dislikes of the participating countries, reflects the importance of separating sport and politics. Sports federations such as FIFA have their own rules in determining the eligibility of participating countries in sporting events, and decisions must be based on technical criteria and not influenced by political interests or subjective views about participating countries. In this regard, the role of sport in promoting unity and peace among all countries and peoples is becoming increasingly important.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on the issue of Palestinian independence. As stated by Jokowi, Indonesia does have consistent and firm principles in fighting for the independence of the Palestinian people and supporting the completion of a two-state solution. As additional information, the two state solution is a political solution proposed to end the conflict between Israel and Palestine. This solution involves the establishment of two independent states, namely the state of Israel and the state of Palestine, which coexist by mutually recognizing each other's sovereignty and security. In the Palestinian-Israeli issue, Indonesia has historically always supported Palestinian independence and opposed Israeli actions that are considered detrimental to the Palestinian people. Indonesia's position on the Palestine-Israel issue is based on the principles of independence, justice and international peace.
